Penny Gundry, our General Manager, will be leaving The Exchange on Friday 9th October.
Penny has overseen the re-opening of The Exchange for limited uses, putting robust procedures in place to ensure the safety of staff and visitors, and she leaves us better prepared for the difficult times still ahead. She has led on funding applications to help secure our staff positions and improve prospects for the future of The Exchange.
However, the plans and objectives envisaged by the Trustees when Penny was appointed have been cancelled out by the huge change in circumstances brought about by Covid-19.
Penny has decided she has done all she can in this unforeseen situation, and that she is ready to move on. The Trustees have agreed and want to thank Penny for all she has done in the face of extremely difficult circumstances.
We are delighted that The Exchange is no longer closed, with community groups and classes starting to use our large spaces for socially distanced activities. Plans are in place for films and a small number of performances in the Stour Hall, with restricted audience numbers. The Café will re-open when we are confident that this can be done safely.
The General Manager post will remain vacant for the moment as we continue to adapt to reduced opening hours.
